Virginia James Obituary

Virginia "Jinny" James, nee Madura, 77, died suddenly while vacationing at her summer home in Michigan. Wonderful wife of Ed "Binker" James. Loving mom to Rick (Marsha), Linda (Frank) Steljes, Susan (John) Hill, Ginger, David (Kirsi) and Robert James. Treasured Grandma Jinny to Justin James, Katie (Alex) Orlowski, Megan, Stacy and Dan Hill, Jessica, Jeremi and Patrick James, Andy Wright and Nicholas James. Cherished sister to Jack (Judy) and Robert Madura. Admired sister-in-law to Joanne Russell, Ruth James, Judy and Beth Madura, and the late Sister Donald, Richard and Donald James. Favorite aunt to 18 nieces and nephews. Fun-loving great- aunt to many. Jinny was the president of her class and a cheerleader at Gage Park H.S. in Chicago. She spent summers with her aunt in LaGrange, where she met Ed. Vivacious and beautiful, she easily won his heart and they married in 1954. Naturally compassionate, she volunteered at Hinsdale Hospital, but mainly was a true HOMEmaker. Jinny's greatest pleasure in life was being with the ones she loved and seeing the love amongst all of them. A good friend to all. A stranger to none. She believed, "Everyone has a story" and she took the time to listen to each one. Full of curiosity; a lifelong learner; a sharer of wisdom. Poet, peacenik, adventurer. Loved chocolate, Jeopardy, everything Disney and so much more. GREATEST HUGGER! LIVED. LOVED. LAUGHED. A Funeral Mass will be held Sunday, September 18th at the Congregation of St. Joseph Chapel in LaGrange Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation, 120 N. Oak St, Hinsdale, IL. 60521 or a charity of your choice. Hallowell & James Funeral Home assisting the family, 708-352-6500.

Dear Binker and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you. We always looked so forward to your visits to Florida and Ginnys HUGS. Dad and mom would never go back to Illinois without seeing her. She brought smiles and laughter to every conversation she was in and always listened so intently on what you had to say. I am sure God has welcomed her through the Golden Gates and was happy to receive one of her HUGS. I know my dad will be happy to see her again! Eileen and Mary OGrady

Thoughts and prayers to the family. Knew Ginny from Sawyer School and then at Gage Park. She was always perky and upbeat, sounds as if this had stayed with her throughout her lifetime.
