Patricia Welch Obituary

Patricia Ann Welch
Born: November 22, 1942
Died: March 20, 2026 in Bryan, TX
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sweet mother, Patricia Ann (Prough) Welch, 83 on Friday March 20, 2026. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59+ years, Jerry John Welch (d. 2020).
Patricia will lovingly be remembered by her three daughters Terre Bailey (Jeff, d. 2011), Karre Stevenson (Dave, d. 2009) and Krisann Winker (Alan). She will be missed by her sister Karen Stiver (Tom, d. 2019). Also, her grandchildren Zachary Graham (Rachel), Molly Beth, Benjamin Jerry (Courtney) and Baylee Patricia as well as her great-grandchildren Graham David and Noah Timothy Stevenson.
Patricia grew up in Goshen Indiana and was a 1961 graduate of Millersburg High School. She continued her education in Chicago, Illinois where she received her training and certification from Michael Reese Hospital to be an X-Ray Technician. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Jerry Welch. The two were married in Patricia's hometown, Goshen, Indiana at St. John Catholic Church. The reception brought together friends and family from the community. Patricia was honored when a reception picture of her and one of her young Amish neighbors was published in a Catholic magazine and the local paper. After marrying and settling down in Illinois, she would become a member of St. Cletus Catholic Church in Countryside, Illinois.
After working as an X-Ray Technician for many years, her talent and passion led her to work as a columnist writing "Township Tales" for the Suburban Life Newspaper. She enjoyed supporting Jerry and her daughters with work, community, school activities and many sporting events. She served as the PTA President, Brownie, Girl Scout & Camp Fire Leader in addition to championing many other supporting roles throughout the years. She would eventually work side-by-side with Jerry at the Organ Service Company that they formed together.
She loved to travel with Jerry and especially enjoyed cruising to Alaska and Hawaii. She attended many Notre Dame football games and was a loyal Chicago White Sox fan. She never missed watching the Indianapolis 500 and especially loved to listen to Jim Nabors sing "Back Home In Indiana". She was an avid WGN radio fan, and you could always count on hearing AM 720 in the background of their home as soon as you walked into the front door.
In recent years, Patricia made her home at Hudson Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Bryan, Texas. In lieu of cards or flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. www.alz.org
Patricia's positive praising way towards all, as well as her quick wit and loving sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your mother. I laughed when reading about her listening to WGN. I do the same every morning. It was always nice seeing your mom and dad around the neighborhood. I will have fond memories of both of them.

Pat Prough was one of my best friends growing up. She was my bus partner on my dad´s school bus and we would share tv stories we watched the previous night after doing our homework. Pat had a great sense of humor and determination to achieve in her studies. She was one of our class leaders.
We kept in touch for years and looked forward to seeing her and Jerry at our class reunions. She was so proud of her girls. Condolences to Pat´s family and her sister Karen.
