Violet E. Nielsen

Born: July 26, 1915

Died: March 15, 2015

Violet Elizabeth Nielsen (Nelson) was born on July 26, 1915, in Chicago, Illinois. Her life was blessed and she in turn blessed other's. She was happiest serving God and others. Her faith was her strength and guided her each day. She was a graduate of Calumet High School, and moved with her young family to LaGrange in 1952. She lived there and in Western Springs until 2006.

She was an active member of the Western Springs Baptist Church serving as a Deaconate and singing in the choir. She also served on the Midwest Christian Women's Club Board as their President. Vi loved entertaining in her home here and at her summer home on Lake Michigan. She moved to Cincinnati in 2006 to be near family. After a nine-year battle with cancer, she breathed her last breath March 15, 2015.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Erik and Gerda Nelson; siblings, Elmer, Gideon, Jay, Florence, and Norman Nelson, and Elinor Broberg; husbands, Warren R. Brinkman and Jens Nielsen; son-in-law, William Treul; and granddaughter, Holly Faith Perry.

She is survived by sisters, Ruth Erickson, June Bere and Claire Hamlin; her children, Dr. Larry K. Brinkman (JoAnne) of Ocala FL, Dr. Richard W. Brinkman (Priscilla) of Geneva, IL, and Barbara Brinkman Perry (Robert) of Loveland, OH; and step daughter, Sharon J. Treul of Pewaukee, WI. Ten grandchildren, Ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive her.

A service of remembrance will be held on July 26, 2015, at three o'clock at the Western Springs Baptist Church, 4475 Wolf Road, Western Springs, Illinois, 60558. She blessed our lives for nearly 100 years!

Memorials can be placed with the Western Springs Baptist Church.

Vi was my prayer partner years ago when I was in the youth group at Western Springs Baptist Church. I just found a Christmas card from her in the front of my Bible. <3
