Ruth Haug Obituary

Downers Grove resident Ruth A. Haug, 87, went home to be with the Lord on January 14, 2011, at Fairview Baptist Home in Downers Grove. Ruth, along with her family lived in LaGrange, IL for 20 years where she loved being an elementary school teacher at Pleasantdale School District 107 in Burr Ridge. Upon retirement she and her husband moved to Palm Springs Florida and enjoyed 20 active years and made many close friends. They loved to travel during this period throughout the US, Mexico, the Caribbean, Canada and Europe, always seeking new adventures. In addition Ruth enjoyed oil painting, camping, directing plays for children's theater, volunteer work, serving as social director in her condominium community and serving as deacon at Faith Presbyterian Church in Palm Springs. Many there will remember Ruth for her tireless giving of her time, and talent to those in need. Survivors include her beloved husband of 67 years, Albert; her children, Gerald (Odee) and Deborah (Tom); her grandchildren, Allen, James and Andrew; and great-granddaughter, Amber; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, William F. and Marie G. Stamm; her sister, Gloria Clokey; nephew, Scott Harman; and grandson, Gerald Haug, Jr (whose wife Maria remained especially dear to her after Gerald's death) . A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held Saturday Jan. 22 at 11:00 am at First Christian Church in Downers Grove; 801 63rd Street. Internment is private.
