ROBERT LEO BALES March 12, 1929 - September 23, 2013 Robert "Bob " Bales, passed away peacefully in his Sarasota home on September 23, 2013, reunited at last, in heaven, with his wife of 57 years, Joane (Wilhelm) Bales. Bob was born March 12, 1929 in Argo, Illinois. He proudly served in the Army 2nd Infantry Division. Bob relocated to Florida from La Grange, Illinois, after retirement from Akzo Chemicals. He spent his days traveling, enjoying golf, being an avid White Sox and Bears fan, collecting coins, playing racquetball, and winning (mostly breaking even) at poker. This self-proclaimed "Grumpy Old Fart " was loved and cherished by many, including his four children and their spouses: Laura (Robert), Cindy, Russ (Adrienne), Robert (Catherine). Bob also leaves behind eight beloved grandchildren: Michael, Alicia, Ryan, Angie, Kyle, Kevin, Stephanie, and Katharina, as well as four great-grandchildren and a multitude of other family and friends. A small celebration of life with immediate family and friends will be held October 25, 2013, in Sarasota, according to Bob 's wishes.
