Nancy Jo Marek, age 73, of Hinckley, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 25, 2016 at her home. She was born on March 27, 1943 in Waukegan, IL, the daughter of Robert and Loretta (O'Hern) Olsen.

Nancy was united in marriage on February 6, 1965 to Lawrence Marek and they spent 51 years happily married. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hinckley, IL and a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Darien, IL. She had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and shared it often with family, friends, and people she met. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Marek of Hinckley, IL; her daughters, Margaret (Debbie Webb) Marek, of Jacksonville, IL and Christine Stuffle of Birnamwood, WI; her four grandchildren, Jack (16), Luke (12), Sam (11), and Star (10); her brothers, Bob (Doretta) Olsen of San Antonio, TX and Jim Olsen of Nashua, NH; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Loretta Olsen.

Nancy was an avid quilter and especially enjoyed planning and creating quilts using reprinted 1930's fabrics. She was a member of the American Quilter Society and a local quilting bee. She liked to browse in antique and thrift stores and collected embroidered linens and crocheted items. Most often Nancy could be found sitting in her favorite chair with a stack of books. Reading was another of her most cherished hobbies which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. Some of her favorite books included the Harry Potter series, Agatha Christie and Perry Mason mysteries, romance novels and the Bible.

Planning a trip to Walt Disney World always brought a smile to her face. Her husband, children and grandchildren have many wonderful memories of vacations spent in the Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

A Memorial Celebration of Nancy's life will be held at a later date. More information on an upcoming memorial service will be posted on www.TheMareks.org.
