Wayne Marsh

Mike Marsh (Butch), 60, of Wichita, Kan., formerly of Madison Heights, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, in Wichita after a long illness.

Born Dec. 27, 1948, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Haywood W. Marsh and Anna Watson Marsh.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Haywood Marsh and his wife, Ann Roberson Marsh, of Lynchburg, and a very special niece, Deanna Marsh Ratliff of Abingdon.

Survivors include one son, Saul Michael Marsh, and wife, Jo Ann Horton Marsh, and grandson, Oliver Wesley Marsh, all of Wichita, Kan.; a daughter, Anna Rose Marsh; his first wife, Rose Anna Oglesby Marsh of Richmond; his second wife, Phyllis R. Marsh of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Clyde E. Marsh, and wife, Ann, of Lynchburg; one sister, Kay M. Woody, and husband, Bennie, of Madison Heights; and a number of nieces and nephews and a very special friend and caregiver, Curtis Simerly of Jacksonville, Fla.

Mike very proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy. He retired from CSX after over 38 years, where he worked in transportation as an assistant train master, both in Lynchburg and Jacksonville.

There will be a private service conducted at a later date.
