Funny memory: we'd often finish up our last set with Willin (Little Feat) - a good slow good night song. If you're heard the Feat version, the song has a few stops. One night after (probably) the last stop, Chewy came out from behind his drums and stood behind me and was waving his arms and trying to freak me out. He stood there for a bit while I cracked up looking at the crowd. Couldn't start the song back up until he got behind the drums, we just had to wait until he was ready to go back to his kit. Hard to get the story across in a few sentences, but we all had a laugh. That was Chewy's mischievous side!

Chewy was an amazing human, and one of the best drummers on the planet. I miss him, and hope he's banging the skins, wherever he may be!

All I can think is that Chewy is banging the skins with no pain right now, and is trading hits with John Bonham and Kieth Moon.

I was lucky to play with Chewy in 2 different bands. With Cosmic Soul Surfers we had auditioned many drummers. When I spoke to Mike I provided him with a bunch of recorded material in advance. When he showed up for the audition he knew everything, and we ran through an entire set without having to work anything out. He was a great player, consummate professional and a good friend. The attached pics are from Michelle and the Book of Runes. I'm looking to see if I can find more.

I happened upon this notice by accident. I am so sorry to hear this. My heart is sad. While I had not talked with Mike is quite a while, we were very close for a time and on some levels I still think we knew each other better than most. My heart goes out to the family.
Rest in peace Farmer Czu.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Czubik family. Mike and I met in 1986 when he was in the band called The Change. I quickly formed a great friendship with Mike (we dated briefly) and also with Mike's other bandmates & friends of the band. I have kept in contact with most of them the past 31 years! In 1987, we formed the band Chantress (A Pretenders Tribute) with a few of Mike's other bandmates (Cliff & Larry). Sadly, now Chantress has lost 3 of our original 5 members. Larry Hall, Joe Roberts and now Mike.
Mike and I had remained good friends and stayed in contact up until a year or so ago. Mike was always there for me. We would spend hours on the phone when he lived in NJ talking about music and life events. I am blessed to have had Mike and our group of friends in my life! I am truly heartbroken by the news of his passing. I will miss him terribly but I find strength in knowing that he is probably jammin' in heaven with Larry and Joe and our other friends that have passed on. I hope you have found some peace of mind now my dear friend... I love you forever.

I just wanted to let the entire Czubik family know that you have been in my thoughts. I can't imagine the heartache you must feel.
I fondly recall the fun times all of the neighbor kids enjoyed playing touch football in the street, sandlot baseball at Webster school, exploring the swamp, building tree houses, art lessons in your basement, and picking strawberries at Ewen's Farm Market. Although Mike was the youngest in the group, his fearless personality ensured his inclusion in all the fun events and activities.
Please know that my mom and I are praying for you and wish you comfort from your pain.

I went to High School and played in many bands with Mike as well as being his roommate for a time. He will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to his entire family. He was a great friend and truly the best drummer I ever played with.

My heart goes out to his family. I am just getting the word, and am very sad. I worked with Chewy for over 20 years, and had the greatest respect for him.
He was an extremely passionate individual, pouring his heart into everything he was involved in. His dream was to be in a band, and drum for a career. He was so talented, and I wish I had a recording of some of his stints.
I am truly blessed for having him to call my friend, and will always cherish our memories that we had.

I first met Mike around 1974. What connected us was,of course, music.Mike, originally, wanted to be a singer. I don't remember whose drum set was set up in Mike's attic room. But he started messing around on it and he discovered his passion. And I do mean passion. He was relentless in practicing and it definitely showed. He became a much sought after and talented drummer. But he never really let it go to his head.Just a good friend to have. Generous and loyal.Sometimes he could be frustratingly stubborn. But he was always there for me as a friend when I needed one. Mike was in town the fall of '13. I was supposed to meet up with him but I was out of town that weekend. I am sad that I wasn't able to make it.To sum up my feelings, Mike was the only childhood friend
whose friendship remained into adulthood.Generous, dedicated to his craft. He will be missed.Sorry was not able to say goodbye.
