Marie Wilson Obituary

Marie Wilson, 92, a resident of Downers Grove, for many years, died Monday, July 28, 2008 at the Pine Acres Rehab & Living Center in DeKalb, IL. She was born Jan. 12, 1916 to Henry and Laura Beckman (Grandjean) in Chicago. She married Alfred Wilson on Sept. 2, 1939. Marie worked for the Chicago Carton Co. for several years, before starting a family. She was very much, a stay at home mom, enjoying her home and family. She loved being outside, working in the yard and planting flowers. She loved to listen to music and play cards and scrabble with Al. Marie and Al shared a love for boating and spent many hours on Lake Michigan on their boat. Their little grey poodle, Sheri, was the "light of their later years." She was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Church in Downers Grove for many, many years. Marie is survived by one sister, Loretta Beckman of Blue Island; three children, Grace (Glen) Wojcik of Sycamore, IL; Norma (Chris) Houghton of Eugene, Oregon; and Peter Wilson of Knoxville, TN. She has seven grandchildren, Kathleen, Tom, Michael, Maureen, Dan, Jason and Andrew; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew, Mark, Jennifer, Ashley, Ryan, Jacob and Aiden. She also has many nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by a son, Tom in 1995 and her husband Alfred in 2000. Also preceding her in death are her parents, a brother, Harry and sisters, Norma and Thelma. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Aug. 1, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Downers Grove with FR. Dennis Paul celebrating. Interment will be at the Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien, IL. Visitation will be Thurs. July 31, 2008 from 4-8 p.m. at the Toon Funeral Home on Main St. in Downers Grove.
