Marie Schwartz Obituary

Marie Rose Schwartz, age 83 of Yorkville, IL, formerly of Downers Grove, IL passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. She was born on September 17, 1926 in Chicago, IL the daughter of William and Marie (Bartos) Bartels. Marie was united in marriage in Downers Grove, IL on November 6, 1948 to Mr. Edward Schwartz and they spent the next 61 happy years together. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Mrs. Schwartz was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Yorkville, IL. Marie was a member of the Post Script Club in Downers Grove, IL. She was at one time very active in the Downers Grove Schools and the community. Marie was a previous Den Mother for her children. She also enjoyed knitting and playing the piano. She is survived by her husband, Edward Schwartz of Yorkville, IL; her children, Barbara (Douglas) Ness of Plano, IL, Edward E. Schwartz of Christiansburg, VA, John G. (Joan) Schwartz of Yorkville, IL, Thomas F. (Cathy) Schwartz of Springfield, IL and Richard J. (Joan) Schwartz of Sarasota, FL; her grandchildren, Eric Ness, Michael Schwartz, James and Jacque Schwartz, and Jenna, Leah and Rachel Schwartz. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marie Bartels; her grandson, Mark Schwartz; and her three brothers, William, Francis and George Bartels. A Funeral Mass was held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 126 W. Fifth St., Pecatonica, IL with Father Robert Sweeney, officiating. Interment followed in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Pecatonica, IL. Friends visited from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Pkwy., Yorkville, IL. Memorials in Marie's name may be directed to the Charity of the Donor's Choice.
