Lorelei (Metz) Malmborg

Lorelei (Metz) Malmborg, age 70, of Rock Springs, WI, and originally from Lyons, IL, passed away on May 8, 2025, at UW-University Hospital after a courageous battle with renal cell carcinoma.
After graduating from Nazareth Academy High School in LaGrange Park, IL, in 1972, she attended Moser Business College in Chicago. In 1974, Lorelei moved to Wisconsin with the love of her life, Chris. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising three children and sharing nearly 50 years of marriage.
She was an exceptional baker and cook, known for her famous French bread, pigs in a blanket, and ham and cheese braid. A passionate gardener, she knew the name of every flower and plant. She cherished living in the country on their property overlooking the Baraboo Bluffs, finding joy in the serene beauty that surrounded her home.
Lorelei spent nearly 30 years at Lands' End, where she formed lasting friendships. Her warmth, kindness, and wisdom touched the lives of many and will always be remembered.
Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate team at UW Health, especially the oncology and palliative care departments, for their exceptional care and support.
She is survived by her loving husband, Chris; her children and their families: Melissa Malmborg (Luke) and their children, Archer, Logan, and Corbin; Alex Malmborg (Jenni) and their children, Vivian, Erik, and Kyndra; Julia Bakke (Robbie) and their children, Jack and Matthew. She also leaves behind her beloved brothers and sisters: Eddie, Katie, Mark, Johanna, Chris, and Maggie, whose bonds of love and support meant the world to her.
She was preceded in passing by her son, Eric Malmborg, who was born into eternal rest, along with her loving parents, Edward and Mary Ann 'Mamie' Metz.
A visitation will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Grasse Funeral Home, 312 N Park St, Reedsburg, WI 53959 with a service to follow at 12:30 PM. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather and celebrate her beautiful life.
Though flowers are appreciated, the family kindly encourages memorial contributions to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Kidney Cancer Association in honor of Lorelei's compassionate spirit and dedication to helping others. Online condolences may be made at
