Florence Crossan Obituary

Florence Maureen Crossan
Born: January 31, 1948 in Saskatoon Saskatchewan
Died: January 30, 2026 in Snohomish, WA
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Florence Maureen Crossan, also known affectionately as Maureen, Granny Mo, Flo Mo, Grandma, and Mrs. Crossan, who unexpectedly but peacefully departed this life on January 30, 2026. Maureen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, and a cherished member of the Downers Grove, IL community.
Born on January 31, 1948 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada, Maureen attended teachers college in Toronto where she met her husband John at a friend's wedding. They married in 1969 and established a loving family and close-knit circle of friends in Downers Grove, IL. Maureen returned to school and completed a bachelors in education with honors from North Central College in Naperville and a Masters degree in Education from National Louis University. She accomplished a fulfilling 20 year career as a revered teacher at Hillcrest Elementary School, where she taught second grade for 2 years and kindergarten for 18 years. In 2021, Maureen and John moved to Snohomish, WA after living in Downers Grove for over 40 years to be closer to her daughter Leslie and her family.
Maureen brightened the world with her radiant, congenial spirit. She loved laughing with friends, playing games, and loving her grandchildren and adopted pup Roxie. She was an avid reader, enthusiastic storyteller, and remarkable gardener. She will be remembered for her empathy, kindness, and comforting hugs. Often smiling or singing, Maureen brought joy and positivity to those lucky enough to know her.
Maureen is survived by her husband John, her son Andrew, his wife Elena, and their children Aiden and Alyssa; her son Paul, his wife Laura, and their children Alex and Wyatt; her daughter Leslie, her husband Pete, and their children Erik and Ellie; and her sister Anne and husband Howard.
We look forward to connecting with her friends at a reception this spring. Details are forthcoming. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, friends make a donation to the charity of their choosing.
