Ladislav J. Nesetril Jr.

Ladislav James Nesetril Jr., 92 years and 361 days, was called home on May 28, 2017, in Blacksburg, Virginia, surrounded by all his loving family.

He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was born June 1, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois. The only child of the late L.J. Nesetril Sr. and Rose Nesetril.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 wonderful years, Sylvia Ann Nesetril.

He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Werner Metzof Chandler, AZ, and Karen and Randy Young of Christiansburg, VA; and the apple of his eye, his granddaughter, Elizabeth Young.

He spent all of his life as a resident of Berwyn, Illinois. At the age of 19 he joined the United States Army and served during WWII in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. After his return, he met the love of his life and married on June 5, 1948. He was retired from International Harvester with 30 years of service.

In retirement years he and mom got to enjoy traveling to see his children and grandchild. One of Dad's greatest joys was taking his granddaughter to school and talking with her teachers and then picking her up from school. He lived for his daughters and granddaughter and would help in any way he could, be it finishing basements, building chicken coops, or doghouses. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. He loved visiting the farm where he could sit on the deck and feed the chickens.

The family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and love during his stay at Manor Care Rehab, Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital, and Heritage Hall. We would like to say a special thank you to Maria and Arturo Gonzalez, and all of their extended family - Adrianna, Eduardo, and Augy who were Mom and Dad's neighbors for many, many years. They have helped Dad for the past several years with shopping, doctors appointments, and just being good friends.

Dad's life will never be forgotten as we celebrate everyday of our lives knowing that he shaped us into who we are today. We love you Dad, we are glad you found your way home to join your wife Sylvia, parents, and friends made over your 92 years of life.
