Judith Mathews, 69, of Capron, passed from this life to life with her loving savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, March 26, 2018, at Kindred Hospital, Sycamore, Illinois.

Judy was born on July 26, 1948, in Harvard, Illinois to Charles and Bernice (Peterson) Crout. She worked as an accountant until retirement. She was a member of Chemung United Methodist Church and a past matron of Noma Chapter #639 O.E.S. Judy had a God-given talent for art and enjoyed both painting and drawing; she loved cooking and baking for her friends and family. She married James Mathews on May 17, 1975; they have one daughter, Jamie Mathews.

Survivors include her daughter, Jamie; caretaker and great niece, Amber Smith; and her dog, Jack; siblings, Carolyn (Kenley) Dalberg, Charles Crout Jr, Nancy Crout-Lovesee, Anita Crout; brother-in-law, Denis Mabie; former husband, James Mathews; and step daughter, Dorothy (Mike) Rower; grandchildren, Edward, David, Michael and Ruth Rower; great grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua and Sophia Rower; maternal uncle, Ralph Peterson of Florida; and paternal aunt, Sophia Phillips of Cherry Valley; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ruth Ann Mabie; nephews, Patrick Mabie and James Ryan; two brothers-in-law, Artis Creel and Richard Lovesee.

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the Capron United Methodist Church, 250 W. North Street, Capron, Illinois with a period of visitation between 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. and a memorial service to begin at 3:30 p.m. Interment will be at Capron Cemetery with a private service to be held at a later date.
