Died: October 24, 2025 in Lagrange, IL
John W. Murdock, 81, of LaGrange Park passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025.
Raised in Lyons and a Graduate of Morton West High School Class of 1962, longtime Brookfield resident John was well known in the area for his warm & kind spirit and his dedication to those he loved.
John served our Country in the Army, an Honored Veteran. John was a proud Chemical Workers Union Member & supporter through his many years at AkzoNobel. John shared joy with family & friends on pizza nights at Ledo's, watching the Chicago Bears, walks with our family Golden Retrievers, fishing vacations to Orr, MN., and mild pranks & general mischief.
Devoted Husband to the late Dorthea Dawn Murdock, now at eternal rest side by side at Clarendon Hills Cemetery.
Loving Father to Kelly and Jeff. Compassionate Stepfather to Jennifer and Nicholas. Cheerful Grandfather, Loyal Friend, Excellent Neighbor.
John inspired people with his kindness, supported his family & friends in any way he could, and demonstrated unwavering love and loyalty to his family. He was One of a Kind and will be deeply missed and forever honored.
Interment at Clarendon Hills Cemetery was held privately. A Celebration of Life gathering will be announced by the family and held in the upcoming Spring.
In Lieu of flowers or donations, we encourage those who knew John to keep his light bright; Offer kind gestures to those around you, choose patience in challenges, and have compassion to tend to the tender things.

I just want to send my thoughts and prayers to Jeff and Kelly and all Johnny's dear close friends and family. He was a very special person in my Dad's life. Growing up and growing older together. No matter the distance they were always the best of friends. Rest in paradise Johnny and thank you and your family for making lots of memories with our family. We will never forget you.

I was so fortunate to have such a great father. He was always there for my family and great friends he´s known for years. Of all my wonderful memories with my family was either going to Pine Acres resort in Orr Minnesota or Indian Lakes in Itasca. You meant so much to me and I hope you knew that. Johnny and my Dad were great friends for as far back as I could remember! I have so many great childhood memories of John, like our families going on vacations together to Pine Acres Resort, in Orr Minnesota! My Dad and Johnny grew up together and I will always consider John as family.. You will surely be missed.. Fly on proud bird, your free at last!

I remember when John was about 3 years old and he snuck out through unlocked door and ran out (in his diaper) chased by caretaker Lucy across the street and through the empty lot. Very funny!
Over the years with many friends, we had good times and bad but mostly good. In the last few years we spent time at our favorite restaurant Irish Times and just talked bs. Trudee and I miss him terribly.
