John "Jack" William Meyer, 92, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017 at his home in Elmhurst, Illinois, surrounded by his family.
Jack was born June 14 (flag day), 1924 to Rudolph and Ella Meyer in Chicago, Il, the middle of 3 brothers.
Jack served in the Infantry in WWII as a Corporal. He graduated with a BS and an MS in Industrial Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, in Chicago, and went on to a long career as a Professor and Administrator in the Chicago City Colleges.
Jack enjoyed spending time at his log cabin in Elcho, WI, with his large family and many friends; fishing, water skiing, and playing nightly card games. He particularly loved to teach the little ones how to fish. He also enjoyed playing golf, square dancing, hosting family holidays, traveling, and Polkas!
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; children (with Lorraine Meyer, deceased), Mark (Suzi), Carl (Kristin), Jean (Merle), Charles (Michelle), John (Kathy); step-children, Mary Kay (Frank), Jayne (Joe), Greg (deceased), Michael (Denise); Nineteen grand-children, Jonathan (Kathleen), Jillian (Brian), James, Katie (Mark), Jeff, Emily, Betsy, Neil (Courtney), Trevor (Ashley), Stephanie (Robert), Michael, Krystyna, Madeline, Allison, Jacquelyn, Elena, Robert (Justine), Brendan, and Nicole; Eleven Great-Grand Children, Jenna, Kailey, Jack, Nash, Dahlia, Silas, Ila, Knox, Sadie, James, and Juliet..
A service to celebrate our memories of Jack with take place in the Fireside Room at Visitation Church in Elmhurst at 9:00 am, on May 17th, 2017, with a mass to follow at 10:45 am.
