James Romani Obituary

James Silvio Romani
Born: October 17, 1944 in Chicago, IL
Died: January 1, 2025 in Barrington, IL
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of James Silvio Romani, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, at the age of 80.
James was born on October 17, 1944, in Chicago, to Silvio and Yolanda Romani. A proud Army veteran, James dedicated his life to service, both to his country and to his community. After his military service, he went on to serve as a respected police officer with the Oak Brook Police Department, where he retired after 26 years of dedicated work. His commitment to the safety and well-being of others earned him the admiration and respect of his colleagues and the community he served.
James had a unique way of acknowledging the achievements of others. Whether at work, in his family life, or with friends, he was known for his trademark enthusiasm and for referring to others' accomplishments as "outstanding." It was his way of lifting people up and making them feel valued. This phrase became a hallmark of his generous spirit and his belief in celebrating the good in those around him. He had a way of making you laugh when he knew you were having a bad day.
James was the loving husband of Christine (Hillman) Romani. Together, they shared 57 years of love, partnership, and cherished memories. He was the loving father of Jeffrey (Melissa) Romani and Gina (PJ) Kirkpatrick. James was also the proud and doting grandfather of Bella and Patrick Kirkpatrick and Carter, Annika, and Gia Romani, who were the light of his life. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
In addition to his family, James had many passions and interests, and was known for his generosity, sense of humor, and kindness. Whether it was sharing a laugh, offering a helping hand, or lending an ear, James had a way of making those around him feel valued and loved. His legacy of love, service, and joy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25, from 1:00 PM until the time of a service at 3:00 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in James's memory to Kathy's House, a charity that provides a "home away from home" for families who need to stay close to their loved ones during medical treatment. Donations can be made at: https://kathys-house.org/
James will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His love and legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Rest in peace, James - you will forever be in our hearts.
