Glenn Auble Obituary

Glenn M. Auble Glenn Milton Auble, a life-long resident of Bartlett, Illinois, passed away on April 3, 2014. He was born on July 20, 1936 to Donald J. and Gladys R. Auble, and grew up on the family farm in Bartlett, where he carved out a 3 acre home site, where he resided until his death. He attended Granger Grade School and Elgin High School, where he played football, and then went on to study aviation maintenance, but ultimately followed in his father's footsteps as a Realtor after serving in the Army. Auble Real Estate was established in 1941 in Wheaton, and Glenn continued the business until he retired in 2008. He will probably be best remembered for what he gave back to the community. He was past president of the DuPage Board of Realtors and served on several local as well as state Realtor Association committees. He was past president of the Wheaton Lions Club and a devoted member until his passing. He served as a precinct committeeman for many years and was a Wayne Township trustee for 12 years and elected Supervisor and served for an additional 8 years. He was also a trustee for the Bartlett Fire Protection District for 20 years. In addition Glenn also followed in his mother's footsteps with his love of music. He belonged to the Fox Valley Men of Harmony, and sang in a barbershop quartet, even after developing cancer in recent years. His passion was really his family. He married his childhood sweetheart Barbara (Bobbi) Sue Rees of Bartlett in 1958. He and Bobbi built their own house where they raised 2 children and instilled in them the love of the outdoors and strong family values. They shared many years of enjoyment with their grandchildren and explored travel and the arts together. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbi Auble; daughter, Robin McKinnon; parents, Donald J. Auble and Gladys R. Auble; brother, Raymond Alan Auble. He is survived by his son, Marcus (Julie) of St. Charles; grandchildren, Tyler and Reese Auble, Sabrina, Sierra, Morgana, Quinton and Griffin Gandsey; a brother, David C. (Shirley) Auble of Spokane, WA. Visitation was Sunday, April 6, 2014, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home & Crematory, 950 South Bartlett Rd., (at Stearns Rd.) Bartlett. Funeral Monday, at 10:01 a.m. Burial, Little Woods Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Elgin Barbershop Chapter; Attn: Chorus Manager Bill Miller, 42W264 Hidden Springs Drive., St. Charles, Il 60175 or Wheaton Lions Charities, P.O. Box 296, Wheaton, IL 60187 would be appreciated. Information: 630-289-7575 or www.countrysidefuneral homes.com

So sad to hear of Glenn's passing. He was a gentleman and a true inspiration to me as I began my own business here in Wheaton. A Chamber friend, he'll always be remembered for his handsome smile, his ready laugh, his willingness to be of service and his dry sense of humor as he inducted us onto the Chamber Board with a promise not to "whine, pout or complain." I'll miss him and send love and condolences to his family.
