GEORGE JOHN HOFFERT George John Hoffert, age 83, found eternal peace in his lifelong Westmont home on June 13, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Joyce, nee Dressler; Loving father to Linda (Bill) Seger, Rob (Kelly) and Rich Hoffert; Dear grandfather of Peter Drapala, Dawn (Chris) Miles, Rob (Crystal), Sarah (Michael), Jessica & Samantha Hoffert; Great-grandfather to Laila Hoffert; Brother of Maryellyn (Jack ) Kloster. He served as a fireman apprentice in the U.S. Ninth Naval District stationed on the U.S.S. Kearsarge in 1948 and 1949, and then as a Naval Reservist until 1955. George enjoyed his work as a journeyman/foreman, and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 265 for 63 years. George 's love of life, generosity and sense of humor endeared him to all. Above all else, he was a family man and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren at his Westmont home and winter home in Florida. He enjoyed playing golf, doing projects around the house and yard, relaxing in his lounge chair with a highball and watching Chicago sports. He was an inspiration and a mentor to many. He instilled the values of hard work, taking pride in all that one does, enjoying life to the fullest and never giving up. A celebration of his life will begin at 10:30am, Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Faith United Methodist Church, 432 59th St., Downers Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Disabled American Veterans or The American Cancer Society. MARCH 14, 1930 - JUNE 13, 2013
