Gennaro Caliendo Obituary

Wurtsboro, NY & Palm Coast, FL

Gennaro Caliendo of Wurtsboro, NY and Palm Coast, FL, died on Thursday, June 12, 2008, in Goshen, NY. He was 91.

The son of the late Theodore and Nicolette Aido Caliendo, he was born on February 18, 1917 in Manhattan.

Gennaro worked for N.Y.C. Dept. of Sanitation for 30 years and after his retirement from N.Y.C., he worked for Monticello School District as a bus driver. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Wurtsboro where he was also active in the Holy Name Society and served as an usher. Locally, he was a member of the Mamakating Seniors and was a member of the New York Social Club of Palm Coast, FL.

Gennaro is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Rose, at home; two sons, Gerald and his wife Anna of Campbell Hall, and Joseph of Deer Park; four daughters, Collette Kraemer and her husband, Kenneth of Palm Coast, FL, Linda Sten and her husband, Allan of Highland Mills, Rosemarie Roberts and her husband, Peter of Staten Island, and Josephine Englehart and her husband, Robert of Slate Hill; grandchildren: Nicholas, Kristie, Christopher, Joseph, Lisa, Melissa, Alana, Anthony, Nicole, Adrienne, Michelle, Robert, Michael, and Dennis; and great-grandchildren: Alexis, Anthony, Taylor, Nicholas, Brayden, Tara, Kenneth, Dennis,and Jillian. He was predeceased by one son, Anthony Caliendo.

Visitation hours are Saturday, June 14, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, June 15, from 2-5 p.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY 10940.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 16, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 18 Sullivan St., Wurtsboro, Fr. Peter Midori will officiate. Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Middle Hope, NY.
