Catherine Bielefeldt Obituary

Catherine C. Bielefeldt, age 90, passed away on November 11, 2012, in Glen Ellyn, Ill. An avid music lover and pianist, Ms. Bielefeldt was Vice President of Sales for Hendricks Pianos (Downers Grove) for more than 20 years. Prior to Hendricks, she worked for Lyon & Healy in Chicago and, later, for Steinway & Sons in New York. Her love of the piano led her to write the book "The Wonders of the Piano," which traces in technical detail the piano's history from its earliest versions to its modern mechanics of today. Ms. Bielefeldt was a longtime member and past president of the Oak Park Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity and recipient of several awards from the chapter for her work and dedication. She is survived by her very dear friend, Ed Hendricks; brother-in-law William E. Duff, niece and nephew Hilary and Mark Duff and many dear friends and cousins. Born January 25, 1922, in Berwyn, IL, she is preceded in death by her parents, William and Linda Bielefeldt, sister Marilyn Duff and dear friends Marilyn Kinzer and Bernadette.
