Carol Ann Marek

Carol Ann Marek, 80, of Elmhurst, IL, died peacefully surrounded by family on December 26, at Lexington Healthcare of Elmhurst, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

Beloved daughter of the late William "Bill" and Mary Paulin; devoted wife of 58 years to William "Bill" Marek; loving mother of Mary Beth (Rob) Stilson, Michael (Melissa) and Mark; proud grandmother of Kellie, Luke, Maddison, Miranda and Mason; dear sister of Beverly (Al), William "Bill" (Sue), and Jim (Debbie); sweet aunt to many nieces and nephews and dear friend to all.

After many jobs, including her first as a waitress on roller skates, Carol worked at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital for 18 years in Pastoral Care and Protection Services where her warm smile and compassion for others were appreciated by many. She loved sharing stories, writing poetry, crocheting, playing piano and sharing a cup of tea with family and friends.

Carol's family would like to express its gratitude to her caregivers at Lexington Healthcare in Elmhurst and Unity Hospice, who cared for her with love and compassion.

Visitation at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, December 30, 2016. Prayers 9:00 A.M. Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the funeral home, going to Visitation Church. Mass at 9:30 A.M. Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Midwest Chapter, Central DuPage Hospital Care Center, 1800 N. Main St., Suite 215, Wheaton, IL 60187 will be appreciated.
