Billie Strauss, 82, of Oak Park, Illinois, and longtime resident of Downers Grove, passed away on November 15, 2025.
Born in the Bronx, NY with a curious mind and keen intellect, Billie studied on both coasts before eventually earning her doctorate in Psychology at the University of Chicago. She worked at Michael Reese Hospital and University of Illinois in Chicago, primarily teaching and doing research focusing on her area of particular interest, hypnosis.
Billie had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling the world. She was an avid hiker who, together with her husband Mike, embarked on many trekking adventures across the globe. She was equally dedicated to her love of music. As an adult, she learned to play the violin and joined the Senior Suburban Orchestra where she enjoyed the challenge and camaraderie of playing with this group.
Billie is survived by her husband of 40 years, Mike Strauss; her brother, Lowell Sherris; her stepdaughters, Pam (Mark) Strauss and Camilla Strauss; and her grandchildren Sarah (Faith), Josh (Lily), and David Leitson, and Alana and Ian LaPoint, whom she loved very much.
