Anthony Lucente Obituary
Anthony Raymond Lucente
Born: April 5, 1926 in Chicago, IL
Died: August 29, 2024 in Lombard, IL
Anthony "Tony" Raymond Lucente, a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 29 2024, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 98. Born on April 5, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the beloved son of Frank and Jasmine (Scotese) Lucente, who preceded him in death, along with his two beloved brothers, Frank and Chris, his cherished sister, Stella, and his much-loved son, Mark. He is survived by his five devoted children and their spouses, Loretta (Jerry Bromley), Patricia (Larry Ruff), Steve (Sue), Stella (Bill Barrett) and Francis (Jeanette), ten loving grandchildren, Christine, Stephanie, Michelle, Ashley, Brianne, Mark, Patrick, Angelo, Cecilia and Maura, eight cherished great-grandchildren, his beloved younger sister, Nancy Porcelli and her husband John and uncle to many nieces and nephews, all of whom will deeply miss his presence in their lives.
A proud veteran, Tony served his country with honor in the United States Navy (Merchant Marines) during World War II, stationed in the Pacific on a supply ship. After his service, he earned an appointment to Kings Point Academy on Long Island, graduating in 1947. His thirst for knowledge and dedication to his career led him to attend night classes at DePaul University, where he studied to become an accountant.
In Hartford, Connecticut, while working for Heinz Ketchup, Tony met the love of his life, Jeanette Demers, of East Hartford, CT. They married and soon after moved to Chicago, where he began his long and successful career with Manor House Coffee, which was eventually acquired by Kraft Foods. Together, they raised six children, first in Elmhurst, IL, and later settling in Glen Ellyn, IL, in 1967. Glen Ellyn remained his home until he moved to Lexington in Lombard in 2022.
Tony dedicated over 35 years of his career to Kraft Foods; his expertise in accounting and his passion for his work led him to a position with Kraft International, where he had the opportunity to travel the world-a journey he relished. His love for travel and food was lifelong, and he continued to explore the world during his well-earned retirement. He also made many new friends during retirement through his volunteer work with the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. He had a particular fondness for the ocean, spending many vacations on Cape Cod and winters in Hollywood, Florida. As a midshipman, he traveled through the Panama Canal, a journey that left a lasting impression on him. He later fulfilled his dream of revisiting the Canal during his time with Kraft.
Tony will be remembered for his warmth, his love of family, and his adventurous spirit. His legacy will live on through the countless memories shared with his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, the National Fibromyalgia Association, or the Cerebral Palsy Foundation in his honor.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
