Alex Joseph Jan, age 39, of Mount Prospect, Illinois, passed away on June 4, 2025.
Born on November 11, 1985, in Riverside, Illinois, Alex lived a life filled with resilience, kindness, and a boundless curiosity for the world around him.
A proud graduate of Riverside Brookfield High School, Alex was an All-Conference Football Player during his time there, showcasing the dedication and passion that would define his life.
Alex's hands were always busy-whether meticulously restoring damaged RC airplanes, sailing boats, or racing cars. His passion for flying RC was legendary, as he would never let any project go unfinished.
Alex is survived by his Nana, Geraldine Skelton; Mother, Colleen Jan; Sister, Sharon Moreira (and her husband, Rolando Moreira); Sister, Margaret Jan; Brother, Shawn Jan; Uncles Robert Skelton, John Skelton, and Brian Skelton. Aunt Jodi Jan (Larson) and Uncle Darren Larson.
Alex's legacy is one of generosity, laughter, and unwavering love for his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A Mass will be held in Alex's honor on Saturday, June 14, 2025 @ 11:00 AM (CST) at Ascension Lutheran Church, 400 Nuttall Rd, Riverside, IL 60546.

Alex was a one of a kind man who touched my heart deeply. He was a true adventurer who seized every moment to enjoy life. He was kind, fun-loving, energetic and an outgoing person. Alex always showed others his zest for life spending time in nature and blasting music and spending time camping and on the water. We had deep conversations about life. AJ helped me through a very difficult time and it was his fun nature that brought me great joy and happiness through a dark time. I am sad AJ is no longer with us and that we lost contact over the years but I take great joy in knowing he is no longer suffering and is in peace with his Dad in heaven. Much love AJ rest easy! You will be missed dearly by all those who knew you. A bright star is gone from earth but is looking over all those he loved from Heaven.
