Yvonne Knorps of St.Charles, formerly of Woodridge, passed away on Sunday June 8, 2014.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Phelps of Westmont in 1974; by her second husband, Eugene Knorps, also of Westmont in 1995; and by her brother, Robert in 1970.

She is survived by her two sons, Edward and Wayne Phelps; by her daughter-in-law, Paulette Phelps; and her granddaughter, Melanie Phelps; all of Woodridge. Yvonne also leaves a sister, Beverly Pedersen, of Lonsdale, Minnesota.

Yvonne was born in Grafton, North Dakota on February 11, 1930. She attended high school in Grand Forks, North Dakota graduating in 1948. Later she met and married Donald Phelps in Grand Forks on November 26, 1954. Yvonne was a devoted and loving mother and wife.

She worked for Holiday Inn and Hyatt hotels, first as a maid and then later as a supervisor. She worked briefly as a housekeeping manager at Manor Care in Westmont, before joining Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove in 1980. She retired in 1985.

Yvonne married her second husband, Eugene Knorps in Westmont, on January 7, 1989. Her world lit up in 1995 with the birth of her one and only granddaughter, Melanie, whom she adored and shared many wonderful moments with.

Yvonne was an enthusiastic flower and vegetable gardener, oil painter, and animal rights activist. She was a cheerful, sweet, and endearing person who will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
