William Stauffer Obituary
Born: October 11, 1931; in Brookville, OH
Died: January 9, 2019; in Downers Grove, IL
William (Bill) Stauffer went to be with our Lord on January 9, 2019 after a long battle with Parkinson's. Bill and his family were blessed as they were able to surround him in love during his last few months and days.
The youngest of four children, Bill was born on October 11, 1931 to Melvin and Ruth Stauffer in Brookville, Ohio.
He met his wife, Martha Cecil, as they were both in the bridal party of mutual friends being married. That was the start of a lifetime romance, a sixty-three year marriage and partnership. They were rarely apart from each other for the rest of his life. About a year after being married they started adding to their family with two boys and a girl. He was a devoted husband and father and never missed an opportunity to provide special opportunities for his family. Bill had a friendly sense of humor and always had a smile and something kind to say.
He played high school football and basketball in Brookville and went on to graduate from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He was an Army veteran, and worked in sales and other capacities in several prestigious companies including Proctor and Gamble, Standard Register, Avery Label, and Dean Foods.
He enjoyed many outdoor activities with his favorite being tennis. He faithfully attended First United Methodist Church for almost 60 years.
Bill is survived by his wife, Martha; sons: Brian (Shelley) and Randall (Gayle) Stauffer; daughter, Ann (Michael) Whitney; five grandchildren: Austin (Marissa) Stauffer, Amy (Peter) Clifton, Katie (Benis) Omercevic, Reed Stauffer, Sarah Whitney; great grandchildren: Lorelei Clifton and Clifton twins to arrive in June; sisters: Evalou Middaugh, Gloria Shiffler.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Melvyn (Mary); brothers-in-law, William Shiffler and Richard Middaugh.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 19th at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Downers Grove with reception to follow.

It was always a pleasure working with Bill on church committees. He was always so kind and helpful. I wish Martha all our best and we will have her in our thoughts and prayers. Such a lovely couple.
