Now its 2024- Yikes. Still playing Blues, Folk and Bluegrass, Roaming 1/2 the year in a not-so-old van. Drop by and tap your foot awhile Bill, that damn e-minor blues is still playing in my head.

2022 and I still think of Bill once in a while, especially when deep in an E minor blues. In Jr. High I said Charlie Mingus was my favorite musician, and Bill came up after class and we became friends... he was amazed anyone in GE knew Mingus, and so was I!
He's gone, and soon enough me too, but the blues lasts forever, and Mingus is still famous, so I reckon life goes on. Hi Mary if you read this....

I grew up with Bill starting in 5th Grade at Duane Street school in Glen Ellyn and hanging out after school at the YMCA annex across from Soukup's Hardware. Bill was the ideal classmate. Partial to none and a friend to all. Bill was a very special person because he made us feel we were special. He would always take an interest in out lives and send personal notes to us telling us how much he enjoyed speaking with us and recalling the good old times we had growing up in Glen Ellyn.

Bill and I were close friends in Jr. High and then Hi School, learned guitar together, both of us wanted to be bluesmen and smoke bare-butts lucky strikes. Lost track of him years ago, but recently learned of his passing when I tried to figure if he was going to 50 years Glenbard reunion (reckon not... so neither am I...). he ALWAYS had a big heart, great sense of humor, I suddenly feel very old... very sad... would love to share one more blues with him... one more whiskey, one more E chord,
If someone knows how to get in touch with his sister Mary in Newnan Georgia, please share with me, last time I saw her was to give her a kiss on her front step in 1967 when I went over to see Bill!

I'm so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I'm relatively new to College of DuPage, but I always enjoyed running into Bill on campus. He was a calm and bright presence, helping students through tutoring. We'll all miss him. Joe Cassidy, Dean of Continuing Education

I am very sorry to hear of Bill's death. He was a good friend to my parents and was always very nice to us kids. He was interested and interesting, a true gentleman and a scholar. The Lanes will miss him!

I am deeply saddened to hear of Bill's passing. Chuck and I lived next door to him for several months in 1998 and he was the kindest, giving, most gentleman-like person I've known. Rest his soul.
