William Ryan Obituary

William Charles Ryan, of Countryside, passed away. Beloved son of William R. and Judy; loving father of Caley (Julie, mother of Caley); devoted brother of Keith (Amanda), Robert, Kimberly Cowsky and the late Tammy Jo Schultz; dear nephew of the late Dale Schultz (Rick Faber), Tina (Jack) Bator, Charlie (Desiree) Struve and Edward Ryan; fond uncle of Dylan and Delaney Ryan, Samantha Montgomery, Andrew, Jason and Keith Cowsky, Jesse and Cody Ryan. Special friend to Michael Beard and Robbie Rioux, also survived by many cousins and many, many friends. Visitation 3 to 9pm Wednesday and Thursday, August 8th and 9th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. A procession, with his race car leading, will depart at 10am Friday, August 10th from the funeral home and pass his home. Cremation will follow. Known as "Billy Gunn" in the auto racing world, and driving #39 and #97, Billy was all about racing anything with four wheels and dirt beneath. He was also a demolition derby driver, and he raced at Sycamore, Joliet and at various fairgrounds. Funeral home phone, (708) 352-6500.
