William Foster "Bill" Hayes

William Hayes Obituary

William "Bill" Foster Hayes, loving husband and best friend of Sonja "Sunny" Jean Hayes (nee Saether), died Tuesday, January 27, 2009, in Elmhurst, IL. He was born May 13, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Paul Duane and Mary Ellen (Stott) Hayes. He moved to DuPage County in 1965 after being honorably discharged from the United States Army as a Spec. 5. Bill is the proud father of Jennifer Lynn Mille, Jessica Lorel Dennison, Jacquelyn Lee (John) Kozuch; and the fond grandfather of Melissa Marie Mills, Isabella Marie Dennison, Christopher William Dennison, Cheyenne Lee Kozuch, Shawnee Bree Kozuch, and Dakota John Kozuch. He also leaves his loving sister, Hazel (Karl) Leukaufe. His brothers, Joseph Albert and Paul Duane (Marietta) Hayes predeceased him. Bill worked for Sears for 32 years, when he was downsized, and then for the Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles until he retired in 1999. He is a member of the American Legion and the Lombard Chapter of the Loyal Order of Moose. Bill worked, raised a family, and attended classes for nine years to earn a B.S. degree in marketing from Northern Illinois University in 1974. He enjoyed woodworking and traveling and was proud of the fact that he had been to 49 states and 72 countries. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to the American Lung Association. Funeral Saturday, January 31, 11 a.m. at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, IL. Interment Private.
