William P. "Bill"
Cunningham
William P. "Bill" Cunningham, age 76, of Jackson Twp. passed away in the home on Monday, June 4, 2007 following an extended illness. Born in Cleveland, OH on November 21, 1930 to the late William and Mary Cunningham, he was a 1949 graduate of Shaw High School in East Cleveland where he was also a member of the Topaz Group. He attended both Wooster and Cleveland State Colleges and went to serve our country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War earning the rank of Corporal. Having moved to Stark County in 1970, he worked as a Registered Sanitarian for the Stark County Sanitary Engineering Department and Health Department where he retired from in 1997 after 25 years of faithful service. Bill was an avid bowler, was well read, and enjoyed trips with his family. He was a member of V.F.W. post #3747, Moose Lodge #233, and North Canton Eagles Aerie #2223. Bill will be greatly missed as a loving husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, and friend. Survivors include his loving wife, Lois (Rhodes) Cunningham of the home and to whom he was married 52 wonderful years; two daughters, Mary Jane (Scott) Cunningham-Mack of Houston, TX and Caryl L. Cunningham of Dallas, TX; son, William (Donna) Cunningham of Canal Fulton, OH and five grandchildren, Erica, Erin, Traci, Tyler, Tamara; three great grandchildren, Riley, Sophia, and Ava. Memorial services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 in the REED FUNERAL HOME NORTH CANTON CHAPEL (801 PITTSBURG AVE) with Pastor Herbert S. Garnes III officiating. Burial of ashes will take place on Friday in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Bill's memory to the American Cancer Society.
