William Black Obituary

William A. Black

William Alan Black, age 86, of Wheaton, died November 5, 2015. He was born in San Mateo, California.

A graduate of the University of Chicago College and Law School, he served in the U.S. Navy as the ship's attorney for the USS Hancock, with the rank of lieutenant. He practiced law in Chicago for many years and in Wheaton prior to his retirement. He was a past chairman of the Wheaton Planning and Zoning Board.

A frequent patron of the Wheaton Public Library, he enjoyed reading, music, and nature as well as spending time with his family.

He is survived by Joan, his wife of 56 years; and three children, Beverly Black of Waterloo, Indiana, Nancy (Brent) Burris of Auburn, Indiana, and Steven Black of Aurora, Illinois; as well as six grandchildren, Malorie, Grace, Madison, Graham, Daniel and Luke Burris.

A memorial service will be held at Hope Presbyterian Church in Wheaton.

Memorial may be directed to the Friends of the Wheaton Public Library (225 N. Cross St., Wheaton, IL 60187) or the People's Resource Center (201 S. Naperville Rd., Wheaton, IL 60187)

I am deeply sorry for your loss. May the "God of all comfort" bring you comfort as you cope during this difficult time. Sometimes all we may need is someone to talk to. Pray to God about your feelings. "He cares for you." (1 Peter chapter 5 verse 7)
