Wanda Homoly Obituary
Wanda Josephine Homoly, nee Kanikula, passed away on February 5, 2022. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 17th from 9am to 1pm with a funeral service to be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Gibbons Funeral Home at 134 S. York St. (mile North of St. Charles Road), Elmhurst. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you please donate to your favorite charity in her honor. Auntie Wanda was beloved by our whole family. Years ago, she would visit for the holidays and special events and love to talk about war times with my parents, who were similar in age. We will miss her greatly, but are happy to know she is with her beloved Ernie. Condolences from the Heavners

We moved in across the street from Wanda when my son was 4 and I was going through a divorce. Wanda had to be in her 80s by this time but she came across the street, introduced herself and asked if I needed anything from the store. She would play catch with my son and gave him popsicles when it was warm, dry mittens when they were in her yard building snow forts. She was a wonderful person and a great neighbor. And I was able to teach my son how to take care of the elderly because we had to keep an eye on "Gramma Homoly" across the street. May she rest in peace.
