Walter Goslowsky Obituary

Walter John Goslowsky, age 89, of Sevierville, TN, formerly of Burr Ridge, Illinois, went to celebrate with our Lord Friday, April 13, 2012. Walter served in the U.S. Navy during WWII fighting U-Boats from a blimp. He worked for 32 years for International Harvester as a Tool and Die Maker, first in Davenport, Iowa and then in Hinsdale, IL. Upon his retirement he worked for the Catholic Diocese of Joliet at Our Lady of Peace in Darien, IL. He was a volunteer fireman with a rank of Captain and an avid Scout Master for many years. He was also a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and tinkering in his shop where he proved a master of invention and creativity. When he moved to the Walden's Creek area his passion became volunteering for the Sevier County food ministry. He attended Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pigeon Forge. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret; his beloved wife Elizabeth; 2 brothers and 7 sisters. Survivors are brother, Fred Goslowsky of California; daughters and sons-in-law, Suzan and George Otterman, Patricia and Edmund Carroll; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Caris Team (Hospice) for all their love and support during this time. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Sevier County Food Ministries, PO Box 6042, Sevierville, TN 37864 or the Sevier Country Human Society. PO Box 976, Pigeon Forge, TN 37868. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Tuesday, April 17, 2012 with a memorial service to follow at 7pm in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Kathy Hale and Rev. Bill McAllister officiating. A eulogy will be given by Steve Striebig. A burial will be held at a later date in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL. To all that had the honor of knowing my grandfather. He was one of a kind. A giving man that spent his life serving others. He wasn't just a grandpa but a best friend that will be missed. Till we meet again gramp and have my fishing pole ready. Love you
