Virginia Hooks Obituary

Virginia L. Hooks, age 73, passed away Jan. 28, 2008, with her sister and family by her side.
Virginia was born on Dec. 31, 1934, to Erskine and Lois Haburne. She worked for the City of Niceville for 22 years as a purchasing agent. Virginia was preceded in death by her father, Erskine L. Haburne; and brothers, Blaine G. Haburne, Colonel C. Haburne and Randolph J. Haburne.
She is survived by her mother, Lois V. Haburne; brothers, Erskine E. Haburne and wife Joan, Marshall L. Haburne, William H. Haburne and wife Beverly, and Bobby J. Haburne and wife Shirley, all of Louisville, Ky.; sister, Emily (Deta) Haburne Dunn and husband Ray Dunn; nieces and nephews, Robin Dunn Hicks and family, Naval Cmdr. Curtis Ray Dunn and wife Amy and family, Pamela Dunn Wilkinson and husband Bruce and family, Gary Dowell Dunn and wife Panja and family, all of Northwest Florida; and many more nieces and nephews from Louisville.
Virginia will always be remembered for her generosity of spirit and for bringing joy and beauty to all that she touched.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home in Niceville.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 1 p.m. at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home with burial to follow.
Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Bartlett and Sam Fields. Active pallbearers are Bruce Price, Jerry Regans, Chris Ely, Ernie Howell, Ronald Matthews and Lonnie Donaldson.
Floral arrangements are being accepted, or donations may be made to the Morgan Welch Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Program and Clinic.
