My daughter and I had the pleasure of being Violet's neighbor for a couple years when she lived in the Milburn Green apartments. My daughter was very young at the time and Violet used to sit and read her books. We so much enjoyed having long talks with Violet. My family still enjoyed visiting Violet at Asbury Gardens each Christmas when we came back to Chicago for a visit. We were so saddened to find that she had passed away this year when we came to visit. She was a very, very special woman and we will miss her dearly.

I was lucky enough to work with Violet back in the late 1950s at Cevela's drugstore in West Chicago. She was a very kind person with a quiet sense of humor. My favorite times were when her husband, Bob, stopped in to see her. He had a great sense of humor as well, less quiet than Violet's. I enjoyed seeing their relationship in action. Violet had a good long life and I am happy I got to know her.
