Victor Schuster Obituary

Victor K Schuster, 89, died on September 23, 2008. He was the son of Matilda Vix Schuster and Edward Christian Schuster, deceased. Victor was a graduate of Downers Grove High School. He enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and was sent to the Naval Intelligence Japanese Language School in 1945; he earned a commission as Ensign here. After release in 1946 he enrolled in Northwestern University, graduated with highest distinction, earning both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree by 1950. He worked for two years on the staff of Northwestern University. Since he stayed in the Naval Reserves, he was recalled for Korean duty and was a member of the teaching staff at the Naval Intelligence School in Washington D.D. until 1954. Victor joined the Personnel Department of Reynolds Metals Company in Richmond, Virginia and ultimately became a group personnel director, responsible for personnel administration for three divisions of the company his career with Reynolds spanned twenty-seven years. With his service in two wartime conflicts and his years in the Naval Reserve, Vic Schuster retired from the Navy with the rank of Captain in 1979 with thirty five years service. He and his family have lived in the state of Virginia for more than fifty years.
