Victor Adair GreeneMarch 9, 1927 — Sept. 27, 2009 The Rev. Victor Adair Greene Sr., 82, of Greenville, S.C., died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, in Greenville Memorial Medical Center.Born in Chattanooga, Tenn., he was the son of the late George W. Greene and Evelyn Boulton Hill. He was a graduate of Furman University and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a member of Pelham Rd. Baptist Church. The Rev. Greene pastored churches in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. He also served as a missionary in the Philippines. The Rev. Greene served his country in the U.S. National Guard.Surviving are his wife, Nima Lou Benefield Greene; two daughters: Lynn G. Miller and husband, Alex, of Black Mountain, N.C., and Tigerville, S.C., and Shawn G. Sutton and husband, Sgt. Major James Sutton, of Kailua, Hawaii; two sons: Dr. Victor A. Greene Jr. and wife, Janet, of Franklin, N.C., and Daniel L. Greene and wife, Gail, of Greenville, S.C.; four step-children: Deborah Lucas, Laura Pulido, David Benefield and Lt. Col. Lane Benefield; 12 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The Rev. Greene was preceded in death by his first wife, Mariella Miller Greene. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Pelham Road Baptist Church, with visitation prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Burial will follow the service in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
