Died: Jan. 31, 2015; in Plainfield, IL

Timothy M. Stetenfeld, age 50, of Plainfield, IL, and formerly of Cicero, IL, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at his home. He was born February 11, 1964, in Berwyn, IL.

Tim is survived by the love of his life and devoted wife of 25 years, Cathy (nee Zwane); his beloved mother, Arlene Stetenfeld; his cherished siblings, Ernie (Betsy) Stetenfeld, III and Sandi (Bill Thompson) Diana; and sister-in-law, Christine (Blake) Shugarman; his dear nephew and nieces, Daniel and Rachel Stetenfeld, Sara Thompson and Lilia Shugarman; as well as many extended family members and countless friends who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest W. Stetenfeld, Jr.; and his parents-in-law, Helen Marie Pallek Zwane and Frederick Thomas Zwane.

A graduate of Fenwick High School, class of 1982, Tim earned his bachelor's degree from the University of IL in 1987. He was an award winning financial advisor with Edward Jones Investments since 2004. Among his endless endeavors, Tim was a member and former Chairman of the Board of the Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce, Co-Chair of the annual Greater Joliet Area YMCA Giving Gala (2014 & 2015), the appointed Chairman of the Plainfield Economic Development Task Force, and an active member of the Plainfield Rotary and Kiwanis Club. He was also honored to be a recipient of the Rep. Tom Cross Ovation to Business Award. Tim had a great love of his adopted hometown of Plainfield, IL.

He gave generously to many community projects and organizations and sponsored the Settlers' Park Concert Series for all to enjoy. A devout Catholic, he was an active parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary Immaculate Church. He will be remembered for his gregarious nature, selfless generosity, compassion for his fellow man and being a friend to all. Above all, family was everything to Tim. He will be missed greatly and will never, ever be forgotten.

For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to Tim's giving spirit, memorials may be made to the Greater Joliet YMCA or St. Mary Immaculate Church.

Visitation will be Friday, February 6, 3:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home &Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield. Everyone is invited to gather for the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 7, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield. Reverend David Medow will officiate. A private family interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, IL.
