He was born in Lowell, Feb. 6, 1955, son of the late James P. and Shirley Welch.
Mr. Welch was a roofer by trade.
He is survived by a son, Tom Brooks of Marston Mills, Mass.; two sisters, Colleen Welch of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Kim Rojas of Somerville, Mass.; two nieces, Michaela Remington and Courtney Welch; a nephew, Casey Altaffer; and a great-nephew, Isaiah Remington.
Cremation and private services have taken place.
