My sincere condolences to Chelle, and both families. Chelle introduced me to Tom several years ago, as the connection was our having served--at different times--with the 1st Cavalry Division in Vietnam. Tom was an engaging and intelligent man who put his creative talents to work in writing "Relic of the Cross." He will be missed.

I'm so sorry to hear about Tom's passing. Our Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce gatherings won't be the same without Tom there to brighten the room. My thoughts are with Tom's family and especially with Chelle at this very sad time.

Tom was a gentle and an intelligent man. I read his book "Relic of the Cross" and it is an interesting book - hard to put it down. Communicated with Tom thru the internet as a M'ville alumni friend, and I believe his spirit is in God's embrace.

My friend sent this to me when I lost my mom. I thought it was very true.
A million times we've needed you. A million times we've cried. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. In life we love you dearly. in death we love you still; for in our hearts you hold a place no one can ever fill. God saw you were getting tired, and a cure was not to be; so he put his arms around you and whispered "COME WITH ME". A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands to rest; God broke our hearts to prove to us, HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST. Your gentle face and patient smile, with sadness we recall. You had a friendly word for each and died beloved by all. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone; A part of us went with you, THE DAY GOD TOOK YOU HOME. You wished no one a last farewell; you never said "good-bye", you were gone before we knew it and only god knows why. At your resting place we visit, we place flowers with care; but no one knows the heartache when we turn and leave you there.
Tom will truly be missed. He really was loved by a lot of people.

From personal experience I have learned that there are no words that "comfort", and at times, they seem to insult more than anything. Mourn the way you will. Let no one tell you there is a right or wrong way. The loss is a great one. Tommy was a great man, and always treated me w/ respect and honesty. I will truly miss him. My DEEPEST condolences to ALL those that loved him. Sam, Chelle, Sue....My thoughts are w/ you all. xoxox
