Thelma Samson Obituary

SAMSON Thelma M. Thelma M. Samson, 94 years, of North Toledo, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2007, in the West Toledo Health Care Center. Born in Portland, IN, the daughter of Melvin and Viola Crawford. She resided in Toledo for over 80 years, coming here from Celina, OH, at the age of 12. Thelma taught Sunday school for 11 years at the former Plymouth Congregational Church. Deaconess, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent and Junior Choir Mother. She was a member of Navy Mothers Club of Toledo. Former President of Sherman School Mothers Club and V.P. of Sherman School PTA. Thelma was also a member of the 1st class to graduate from Point Place High School in 1931. Thelma was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dale B. Samson and loving son, John (Jack) Hamblin of Revere, MA. She is survived by her loving daughter, Dalene (Charles) Smith; grandchildren, Gary (Karen) Hamblin, Shanghai, China, Robert (Nadine) Hamblin of Reading, MA, David (Julie) Samson of Cleveland, OH, Michelle (Joe) Glanville, Phillip (Molly) Samson of Cleveland, OH, Katie (Doug) May, Joshua (Keeley) Smith, Sariah (Mike) Flynn and great-grandchildren, Jobe (Jenna) Hamblin of Dedham, MA and Cage Hamblin of Reading, MA, Forest Samson, Alexis Glanville, Jasmine Smith, Alexandra Dewell, Ashley Glanville, Phillip Reveal, Dominic Dowell, Chase Glanville and Elizabeth Samson. Visitation will be held in the Abele Funeral Home, 1910 Cherry Street, between the hours of 4-8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Scheer and the staff of the West Toledo Health Care Center for the care they gave Thelma.
