Susan Ouchterloney

Susan Ouchterloney, age 60, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 after a fierce battle with cancer.

She grew up in Rye, NY and was a graduate of Rye High School. She earned her BA from Rockford College. Susan spend many summers at Rock Hill Girl Scout Camp, first as a camper and later as a counselor. She especially enjoyed time at the pool and singing camp songs. Susan worked for Amtrak for twenty years, moving from New York to Delaware to Washington DC, to St Louis and finally to Chicago. While at Amtrak, she did everything from wrangling Miss America contestants to organizing and arranging all of the transportation for the annual Army/Navy Game, including being personally responsible for the safe transport via Amtrak of the famous Navy mascot goat. Following her time at Amtrak, Susan joined Citibank as a Diners Club Card team member. Susan quickly became a leader in Cards and moved to LaSalle National Bank and eventually to Bank of America as a Treasury Sales Specialist.

Susan became a Certified Treasury Professional in 2016. An avid golfer, Susan was a member of the Chicagoland Golf, Fairway Friends and American Singles Golf Association. She was never happier than when spending time on the links. She loved golfing in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Canada. She celebrated two career holes in one. It was a treat to play in her foursome. She took great joy in traveling extensively with family and friends. Susan was celebrated as the 2016 Rockford University Alum of the Year for her service on the Alumni Board and her dedication and service in promoting RU to prospective students and alums.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Helen Ouchterloney; and her brother, Jim.

She is survived by her longtime companion, Tom Ullsperger; her brother, Donald, his wife, Joanne and their daughter, Ali; her sister, Ann Stasko and her husband, Rich; as well as a vast family of friends from all facets of her life.

Family and friends will meet for a 10:00AM Memorial Mass, Saturday, November 18, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 4801 Main Street, Downers Grove, IL. A private graveside service was held.
