Stacie Fallon Obituary

Stacie Fallon passed away peacefully on May 29, 2012, at her home in Glen Ellyn, IL, surrounded by her family. She lived a full and loving life even after being diagnosed for breast cancer in 1996 and treating a persistent recurrence in 2009. She fought the disease with all she had while staying positively engaged with others and herself in every way she could. She loved life. Stacie was born February 25, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Michael and Elaine Alexander. Stacie grew up on Grosse Ile, Michigan. Stacie graduate from the University of Michigan in 1985 and then on to the Sorbonne in Paris where she explored her passion for the French language in Paris. Stacie met her future husband, Dan Fallon, in Washington, DC in 1986. They were married in Saint Ann's Chapel in 1989, on the island of Grosse Ile. Dan and Stacie settled in Chicago and eventually made their home in Glen Ellyn, IL. There they started a family and developed an ever growing circle of very close friends. Stacie was heavily engaged in the community where she regularly volunteered in community activities. Stacie worked at the Council of State Governments as a public policy analyst in the early 1990s and then again in 2008-2009. She was instrumental in conceiving and instituting the Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development program (BILLD) which is now in its 18th year. The program helps newer state legislators develop the skills necessary to become effective leaders, informed decision makers, and astute policy analysts. Stacie was a dedicated, wonderful, and engaging wife and mother. She was an excellent role model for their children. She taught them to be strong, honest and independent. Stacie is survived by her husband, Daniel Fallon; her children, Emily, Patrick and Peter; her ever-present dog Nellie; her parents, Michael and Elaine Alexander; her sisters, Kim Alexander Clark, Mickey Stratton; and her brother, Michael Alexander. She leaves behind many dear friends -old and new- that she touched in sincere and enduring ways. Stacie would never allow her illness to define her. She was admired for her grace and dignity throughout her life, not so much because of the cancer but because of who she was. She was determined. On the tenth anniversary of her remission, she competed in the California Half Iron Man Race and competed in other marathons and triathlons. She was compassionate. In recognition of her service to others, her parish honored her with its Woman of the Year award. She was loving. During her life, many quietly reached out to Stacie for an attentive ear and a soft voice. Visitation Friday, June 1st, 2012 from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton (1 blk. East of Naperville Rd.). A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Petronille Catholic Church, Glen Ellyn. Please meet at church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Funeral info: 630-668-0016 or www.williams-kampp.com

Dan and Family--Our prayers and thoughts will be with you. I always admired Stacie's peace with life and her ability to live life with intention. Stacie and I would on occasion walk to Ben Franklin, both pregnant with our youngest to meet the older ones. She was amazing. She was remembered during a recent Relay For Life. Her grace will never be forgotten.

Stacie always reached out to help others. She put everyone else first and did so with a generous, joyful spirit. She had an inner grace that she was able to share with every life she touched. The world is a better place because of Stacie.

Dan, Emiily, Patrick, and Peter, no words can express my heartfelt sympathy during this difficult time. I had the pleasure of meeting Stacie for the first time at this year's bowl-a-thon. While we only talked briefly, I could tell she was a wonderful person, loving wife, and dedicated mother. I ask that God give you strength and comfort in the days and weeks ahead. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
