Shirley Johnson Obituary

I'm sorry I missed this. Shirley was a sweet, kind lady who was always at Willis's side. They were a great team! Their community involvement and service will touched many.

I was a corporate book buyer and knew Shirley well from book programs and I was privileged to be a volunteer at the Tivoli. Rest in peace my friend and my most sincere condolences to the family.

Work with Shirley for a short time, however I never knew her to be anything but a true Professional and a Kind Heart.
Shirley was a Good partner for Willis and now they are back together on their next journey...

I had the pleasure of working with Shirley and Willis for over 40 years. Shirley always treated me like family. She always wanted to know what my kids were up to. Some of my fondest memories were of trips to Show East in Atlantic City. The Johnsons were gracious and let my wife Lori accompany us. I think it was Shirley's way of having someone to socialize with while we were checking out the latest gadgets at the trade show. Lori and I will always treasure those memories. Willis and Shirley has a great vision for what could be. We will all work to keep that vision alive.

Without Shirley's supporting my vision for over two decades for Midwest Ballet Theatre's live ballet performances at the Tivoli, my full length programs, attended by many thousands of arts patrons, may well have never happened. Rest peacefully, dear friend. And thank you.

All of us here at Sharing Connections are so saddened by the news of Shirley's passing. What a true loss to her family and friends and also a loss to the community. She always shared a sweet and calming presence everywhere she went. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Johnson family on your loss.

Chris: I was so sorry to hear the news of Shirley's passing.From My days at Paramount and Warner Bros she was a joy to work with. We would always have lively discussions about the latest books we were reading and always looked fowarded to when she and Wiilis would stop by the office. She was a remarkable woman who will be missed.

First Willis, now Shirley. Two of my longest acquaintances and partners in the Tivoli have left us. Both leave a void that is unfillable. My life is the better for having known both of them, and I commit to continuing their dreams for the arts in this area.

I had the pleasure of working with Shirley for nearly 20 years. Her & Willis were always a tandem working on their next project for Tivoli Enterpises/Classic Cinemas. Willis may have taken the spotlight but Shirley was always there to guide & support the future of the company. So many memories to share here but if I have a fav it was simply Willis returning to the office & sneaking up behind her with an affectionate kiss & saying "you want to go out to lunch or dinner"?
Now they are back together enjoying a meal, a movie or just conversation.

We never met Shirley but we are good friends with her son, Rich Winters. Our sincerest condolences to Rich and the rest of Shirley's family.

I was honored to have worked with Shirley at Tivoli Enterprises for 14 years, as Willis's Executive Assistant, and enjoyed her kind friendship during that time and until her passing. She is home at last with her loving Willis. "Lee" Jecmen

I met Shirley many years ago, not long after I joined the Theatre Historical Society of America. She and Willis were a class act, and a wonderful team. When I was a young member, they understood my ebullient enthusiasm for vintage movie theatres, and my wide-eyed wonderment at the excellent and beautiful way they restored, updated, and operated theatres. I will always remember her sincere, approachable manner. I will always be grateful for the generosity and help they gave Theatre Historical Society by enabling us to secure a home, for many years, for our Archives, museum, and administrative center. She and Willis were more than exhibitors and preservationists, but stalwart friends to us. Requiescat In Pace, Shirley. And may you awaken to even more beautiful adventures.
