Sherrie Ann Case, 73, of Dade City passed away on September 6, 2021. Sherrie was born on October 1, 1947 in Tallahassee, Florida to Robert Melvin and Dorothy Case. She was a 1965 graduate of Pasco High School, and also attended the University of South Florida.
Sherrie began working at the Pasco County School Board on October 1, 1968. She retired 40 years later as an Accounts Payable Specialist on June 30, 2008. She served on the City of Dade City Police Officers Pension Fund Board of Trustees. She was a Florida State season ticket holder and booster, who bled garnet and gold. She loved going to games, tailgating, and having football parties at her house. She was a Disney passholder and enjoyed many trips there with her “gang”. She loved to travel and attended concerts, especially to see her beloved George Strait.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mel and Dot Case along with her husband, James “Jim” Purcell. She is survived by her daughter Melissa “Missy” Walters and her grandson Tye Walters, both of Dade City. Sherrie also leaves behind a host of family, friends, and her precious cats.
Services will be held at Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home, located at 11441 US Highway 301 Dade City, FL 33525. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7pm on Thursday, September 9th. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 10th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Roy Hardy Benevolent Trust Fund or the Dade City Police Foundation.
The family would like for everyone to wear garnet and gold, Florida State, or Disney attire. A select few may wear Gators attire – you know who you are.

I was fortunate to work with Sherrie when the School Board office first moved to Land O'Lakes. Her direction helped to guide the District through those early times of extreme growth. Her continued dedication to her job is a testament to her as a person. Rest peacefully!

I'm so grateful for the opportunity to meet your mom. The conversations we had about FSU and GATOR sports. I have some nice memories of some get togethers at Sherrie's house. Sherrie and you Melissa made me appreciate the "friendly rivalry " between the NOLES and GATORS. I love you my friend and God's hugs.
