Saundra Matter Obituary

Saundra K. Matter Saundra K. Matter, 64, of Millcreek, died Monday, January 24, 2005, at Millcreek Community Hospital. She was born in West Hamlin, West Virginia, November 27, 1940, daughter of the late Freer and Maggie Isaacs Scites. She worked at the desk of the Capri Motel for many years. She had also worked at Marx Toys for many years. She had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed shopping, garage sales and loved animals , especially her dog Simba. She was preceded in death by her husand, Robert K. Matter; and a brother, James Scites, Jr. She is survived by a daughter, Karla Thorr and her husband John of Millcreek; and a son, Ron Matter and his wife Lacy; one brother, Herbert Scites of Hurricane, W.V.; and four sisters, Betty Austin of Maryland, Peggy Matheny of Georgia, and Bonnie Weaver of West Hamlin, West Virginia, and Anna Vandelinde of N.C. Further survived by four grandchildren, Samantha Thorr, Jessica Thorr, Kalynne Matter and Brandon Madura. Friends may call at the Burton West Lake Funeral Home, 3816 West Lake Road, Thursday, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 1645 West Eighth Street, Erie, PA 16505; or to the family c/o Burton Funeral Home, 602 West 10th Street, Erie, PA 16502. My deepest sympathy to the family. I am a friend of Ron Matter and I would just like to say that Sandy always treated me like one of her children every time I saw her. She would always make sure that I didn't leave hungry. She was a wonderful woman and will be missed.
