Samuel Gervase Obituary
Samuel Leonard Gervase, 78 of Indian Head Park, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2016, at his home.
Born in Brookfield, Illinois to George and Elena Gervase, he lived most of his life and raised his family in LaGrange Park. Sam was a loving husband to his wife and LTHS sweetheart, Barbara "Bobbie" (Riggs) and they enjoyed 57 wonderful years of marriage. After working for Electro-Motive for 29 years, Sam enjoyed a very full retirement life. He and Barb traveled all over the US and to other countries too. Las Vegas (at a black jack table) and with his family at Lahania in Fort Myers Beach, Florida were two of his favorite places to be. Sam was very proud of his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Debbie & (Corey) Noble of Indian Head Park, Laura & (Rick) Kigin of St. Paul, MN and Steve & (Sheila) Gervase of Davenport, IA; his grandchildren, Jessica & (Ryan) Galloway, Ben and Cassie Noble, Angi & (Chris) Schrom, Kyle and Cody Kigin, Sam, Jake, Clare and Molly Gervase; his great-grandchildren, Lily and Julia Galloway; his sister, Sara & (Gail) Schleitwiler; his brother-in law, David & (Linda) Riggs; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation and a private gathering for family is planned. Memorials may be sent the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674. Arrangements entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home (708) 352-6500

Sam and Barb, the Fosters, and the Andersons have been good friends for more than 40 years. The trips and cruises we took together provided endless belly laughs. I've lost track of how many pizzas we have enjoyed together, somewhere over three hundred. When I think of Sam, the first word that comes to mind is loyalty to his country; Barb; their kids, grandkids, and great grandkids; his employer, EMD; and his many friends. We will sorely miss him and the good times.

Sam was a great guy. Need a tool that you can not find; he will locate it for you. Need some thing sharpened in tool grinding? He will take care of it for you. Great guy to work with.
