Sally Downs Obituary
Sally "Sarah" Downs, beloved wife of 69 years to Thomas "Tom" Downs.
Born in 1923, Sally grew up on the South Side of Chicago and graduated from DePauw University. Tom and Sally had four children, Gail (Mike) Madden, Cecelia Downs (Dennis Temple), Tom (Dede) Downs, and Jim Downs (Karen Petersen). They have nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Sally was for many years an elementary school teacher in Downers Grove, noted for her work in outdoor education and for mentoring student teachers for the University of Wisconsin. After retirement Tom and Sally moved to Melbourne, Florida where they spent many happy years together.
Sally is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Cora Lockwood; and by her brother, the Rev. George Lockwood.
Visitation Monday, June 19th; 5:00PM until time of Funeral Service 7:00PM at Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main Street (1 blk. So. of Ogden Ave.), Downers Grove. Interment Private. 630/968-1000 or www.adamswinterfieldsullivan.com
