Ruth Zuehlke Obituary

Ruth S. Zuehlke passed away August 31, 2011 at age 92. She was born in Chicago, IL August 13, 1919, daughter of the late John and Marie Schank. After being raised in Downers Grove, IL and graduating from the local high school in 1940, she met Clifford J. Zuehlke at Western Electric and were married September 20, 1947, after which they settled in Downers Grove. Ruth was a homemaker until their two boys were attending high school. Then she went to work for Vaughn Seed Company, until she and her husband retired in 1974. Her hobbies included: family, gardening, sewing, knitting, playing games and the organ. She always tried to be friends with the many people she met. Ruth will be remembered by her pleasing smile and positive mental attitude. She will be dearly missed. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Clifford J. Zuehlke, who passed away August 20, 2004 at age 93. She is survived by sons, Gary E. Zuehlke of Bolingbrook, IL and Clifford G. Zuehlke of Marion, WI. Ruth is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial church service was held September 9, 2011 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Joliet, IL. Inurnment was at Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien, IL.

We're so sorry to hear about the passing of Ruth. We were neighbors for more than 25 years. She always played the latest song she learned on the organ for us. She lived a long and wonderful life and will be dearly missed by all the former neighbors. Our condolences to Gary, Cliff and families.
